Lysaker, 03 December 2007 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Decrease in Norwegian power production The Norwegian power production decreased by 3.2 percent from week 46 to week 47. In Sweden and Finland the decrease was smaller, while the Danish production increased by nearly 10 percent. The Norwegian consumption was unchanged from the week before. Consequently, the Norwegian production dropped by two thirds, from 149 GWh to 51 GWh. The decrease in Norwegian production may partly be explained by low inflow and forecasts of colder weather, together with expectations of higher prices in 2008 as a result of changes in the carbon quota market. The inflow to Norwegian hydro reservoirs was 10 percent lower that normal in week 47. Thus, the Norwegian reservoir level dropped by 2.3 percentage points to 86.6 percent in week 47. In Sweden the reservoir levels fell with 1.7 percentage points to 79.9 percent. The Norwegian elspot price decreased by 0.2 øre/kWh to 0.39 øre/kWh in week 47. It was also a feeble rise in the Swedish and Finnish prices, while the prices in Jutland and Zealand fell substantially as a consequence of higher Danish wind power generation. The prices on Jutland and Zealand were 33 and 35 øre/kWh in week 47. The wind power production was especially high last Sunday. In certain hours it led to prices of 0 øre/kWh in Jutland this day. ------------------------------- Contact person at the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate: Marit L.
