Lysaker, 18 September 2007 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Prices increasing in the South of Norway - while decreasing in the Middle and North of Norway The high level of power production in the south of Norway has led to a decrease in the reservoir level the last few weeks. At the same time there has been an increase in electricity prices in the area. The average price of electricity in the South of Norway was 15.6 øre/kWh in week 37. In the middle and north of Norway heavy rainfall the last few weeks has contributed to a decrease in electricity prices, to 22.0 øre/kWh and 22.2 øre/kWh respectively in week 37. There are currently large price differences in the Nordic power market. In the rest of the Nordic power market, prices as noted on the Nordic power exchange were between 27 and 28 øre/kWh. There was 20 percent more inflow than normal to the Norwegian reservoirs in week 37. The Norwegian reservoir level increased by 0.1 percentage points to 93.5 percent at the end of the week. The reservoir level is the highest in the middle of Norway, by 95.8 percent.
