Lysaker, 5 September 2007 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Increasing prices in the South of Norway The price of electricity in the south of Norway, as traded at the Nordic power exchange, more than tripled from week 34 to 35. This is mainly due to less inflow the last few weeks and increasing power consumption. However, the price is still considerably lower than those in other Nordic areas. The weekly average price was 9.2 øre/kWh last week. This is 50 øre below the price level in the same week last year. Prices in the Middle and North of Norway were 21.6 and 21.4 øre/kWh respectively in week 35. The prices in these parts of Norway were also lower than those of the other Nordic countries. The inflow to the Norwegian water reservoirs was 2.2 TWh in week 35, which is about normal. Still, the reservoir level dropped by 0.5 percentage points due to a high level of power production. The reservoir level was 93.3 percent at the end of week 35.
