Lysaker, 20 June 2007 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Increased electricity prices The electricity prices in Finland and Sweden increased, due to higher consumption in the Nordic area and reduced electricity imports from Russia. This rubbed off also to the Middle- and North of Norway, where the price at the electricity exchange increased with 23 percent to 22.3 øre/kWh in week 24. In Southern Norway the prices increased with 16 percent to 17.7 øre/kWh in week 24. Healthy reservoir levels, still more snow than normal in the mountains and maintenance on several transmission lines has contributed to lower prices in the South of Norway compared to the rest of the Nordic area. The inflow to the Norwegian reservoirs was about 90 percent of normal in week 24. The content in the reservoirs increased with 3.8 percentage points to 65.4 percent at the end of the week. That is 10.5 percentage points above normal.
