Lysaker, 13 December 2006 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Much precipitation and inflow resulted in a price fall in week 48 Also in week 49 there was a lot of precipitation in Norway and in the last 10 weeks there has been 50 percent more precipitation than normal. Last week the inflow to the reservoirs was twice as much as normal and of the same size as the electricity production. Hence, the reservoir level was unchanged at 67.2 percent from week 48 to week 49. In the newly established elspotarea in Middle-Norway the reservoir level dropped with 1.4 percentage points to 62.6 percent at the end of week 49. In Northern-Norway the reservoir level is 64.8 percent after a 0.7 percentage point drop during week 49. The whole sale price on electricity fell with 2-3 øre/kWh in all of the Nordic countries. The prices in Middle-Norway and Northern-Norway were slightly higher than in the other Nordic elspot areas also in week 49. The average price difference of 3 øre/kWh in week 49 indicates the relatively lower reservoir level in the areas and that there has been limited precipitation and inflow in these areas. The power producers in Middle- and Northern Norway are at time being more aloof to produce. Consequently prices are slightly higher and electricity imports to the areas are ensured. ------------------------------- Contact person at the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate: Tor Arnt Johnsen, NVE, phone: +47 9302 4238 Jon Sagen, NVE, phone: +47 2295 9595
