Lysaker, 15 November 2006 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Increased water reservoir level and lower electricity prices Mild weather and plenty of rain resulted in above normal inflow the last weeks. In week 45, the inflow to the Norwegian water reservoirs was 3.0 TWh and this is 60 percent higher than normal. At the same time the Norwegian electricity production fell by five percent. Thus the water reservoir level increased with 0.8 percentage points from week 44 to week 45. At the end of week 44 the reservoir level was 65.1 percent. However, the reservoir level is still lower than the minimum value from the dry year 1996. Hitherto this year the inflow has been 16 percent below normal. In Sweden the reservoir level fell by 0.4 percentage points to 67.8 percent. The prices at the Nordic electricity exchange fell from week 44 to week 45. The price of electricity in south Norway was 42.2 øre/kWh in week 45. Thus the prices fell with 6 percent from the previous week. The combination of mild weather and rain contributed to the decrease. The contract for the first quarter of 2007 was traded at 44.7 øre/kWh at the start of week 46. The price of this contract has fallen with a third since the end of August. ------------------------------- Contact person at the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate: Tor Arnt Johnsen, NVE, phone: +47 9302 4238 Jon Sagen, NVE, phone: +47 2295 9595
