The Power Situation in Norway as of 28 June 2006

Lysaker, 28 June 2006

Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE):

Lower reservoir levels than normal
At the end of week 25 the reservoir levels in Norway were 56.3 percent. This is an increase of 3.9 percentage points. The reservoir levels are at present 6.3 percentage points below the median value for the week. Estimated inflow for week 25 was 5.1 TWh, or 90 percent of normal. The inflow is below normal for the sixth consecutive week and hitherto this year the inflow is 7 TWh below normal.

Annual maintenance of Swedish nuclear plants contributed to lower Swedish power production in week 25. Reduced consumption due to Swedish and Finnish holiday on Friday still gave reduced Norwegian net export of power in week 25. Reduced export and lower inflow contributed to lower Norwegian power production in week 25 than in week 24.
