The coastal city of Dalian in Northern China hosted one of Asia's largest seafood tradeshow in November. Armed with Chinese banners and brochures, AKVA participated and displayed their technology in China for the first time.
With around 70% of the world's aquaculture production, China is by far the biggest global producer. Unlike the typical salmon farming countries, China farms a huge variety of aquaculture species, making this market very fascinating but also challenging for AKVA group.
AKVA's team in China, Mr. Olav Jamtøy and Mr. Rolf Zimmermann, has explored the company's business opportunities there for some time, and comments; "As doing business in China is quite different from what we are used to and represents many cultural, practical and language challenges, we have established cooperation with local advisors to overcome these and build our business here" and adds, "as we were at times overwhelmed with tradeshow visitors from both China and other North Eastern Asian countries, the bottleneck quickly became the fact that we only had one person at the booth translating. But, despite this, the show was success for us and is another step in building AKVA group's business in China".
