Lysaker, 6 May 2009 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Mild weather caused lower prices and high inflow The electricity price was 251 kr/MWh in Southern Norway and 284 kr/MWh in Middle- and Northern Norway in week 18. There was a larger fall in the weekly price in Middle Norway with a decrease of 43 kr. In Southern- and Northern- Norway the price fell with 37 kr. Lower demand for electricity due to milder weather is the main reason for the price decrease. Public holy day in connection with May 1st has also contributed to lower consumption. In total the Norwegian electricity consumption decreased by 10 percent from week 17 to 18. The warm weather intensified the snow melting in week 18, and the inflow to Norwegian reservoirs was considerable higher than normal. At the end of the week the Norwegian reservoir level was 35,7 percent.
