Lysaker, 3 June 2009 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Lower Power prices and high Nordic power imports The electricity price went down in all the Nordic areas from week 21 to 22. High Danish wind power production in addition to higher temperatures contributed to the decrease. The decrease was largest in Southern-Norway. In this area the price was NOK/MWh 286 in week 22 - down NOK 16 from the week before. In Middle- and Northern-Norway the price was 303 kr/MWh. At the German power exchange EEX the price fell nearly twice as much as in Southern-Norway and was NOK/MWh 267 last week. Since the beginning of March, there have been considerable Nordic net imports. From week 21 to 22, the Nordic net imports increased with 73 GWh to 298 GWh. There have not been higher Nordic net imports in a week since the end of 2007. The international downward economic trend has contributed to lower power demand and lower power prices in Europe. In week 22, there were Norwegian net imports from the Netherlands.
