The power situation in Norway as of 16 September 2009

Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE):     

Price decrease in Middle- and Northern-Norway 

The electricity prices in Middle- and Northern-Norway decreased by 8 and 9 percent from week 36 to 37. The average price was 24.3 øre/kWh in these two areas last week. In Southern-Norway the electricity price was approximately unchanged from the week before, but still this areas has the lowest weekly electricity price in the Nordic region with 19.7 øre/kWh. High inflow and low transmission capacity to adjacent areas have contributed to lower prices in Middle- and Northern-Norway. 

The inflow to the Norwegian reservoirs was 50 percent higher than normal last week. At the end of the week the Norwegian reservoir level was 86.7 percent. It is 0.9 percentage points lower than normal.
