Panasonic Announces Lumix DMC-G7 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Camera

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - May 18, 2015) - B&H is pleased to share the announcement of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Camera. The DMC-G7 is the successor to the popular G6, adding multiple features and updates to please photographers and videographers alike.

The most notable upgrade is the addition of 4K UHD video at 30p and 24p frame rates, whereas the G6 only captures full HD. While the DMC-G7 still shoots 1920 x 1080 full HD, the ability to shoot 4K not only provides increased image detail and quality for videos, but also allows 8MP still photographs to be captured at 30 fps in a high-speed burst. You can also shoot 30 fps for up to 29 minutes and 59 seconds in 4K burst mode, giving you numerous still-image choices. Additional 4K still-shooting modes allows the camera to record 30 frames in the second before you press the shutter and another 30 after you press the shutter, or you can record the stills as if you were shooting a video, and then choose which frame to capture during playback.

Stills and videos are captured on a new 16MP Live MOS Micro Four Thirds sensor, which is paired with a Venus Engine 9 processor to provide image sensitivity up to ISO 25600. The Venus Engine 9 allows for improved image quality, low-light performance, AF speeds, and noise reduction, as well as burst shooting up to 8 fps in single-shot AF, 6 fps in continuous AF mode, and 40 fps with the electronic shutter in SH mode.

The physical traits of the Panasonic G7 have also changed, compared to the G6, as the body and controls see an upgrade. The G7 adds a front dial control, where the G6 has only the rear, plus a drive mode dial on top of the camera for selecting your shooting mode. Six user-customizable function buttons let you adjust the buttons to the settings of your choice.

The OLED Live View Finder sees a great increase, from a 1.44m-dot EVF to a 2.46m-dot EVF with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio to provide high-visibility even under bright light. The camera also features a 3.0" 1.04m-dot vari-angle LCD touchscreen and built-in Wi-Fi.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds digital camera black and silver body colors are available in a kit with the Lumix G Vario 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH. MEGA O.I.S. lens, or the black body can be bundled with the longer-reaching Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. lens.
