CPH started the year on a growth note
More than 1.5 million passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport in January, representing an 8.5% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers.
A total of 1,502,243 passengers travelled through Copenhagen airport in January, continuing the record growth in both international and domestic traffic.
“We are pleased to see the continuing growth in domestic traffic after more than a year with steadily intensifying competition. The five new intercontinental routes opened in 2010, together with the continuing expansion of the European route network, ensure that growth continued in international traffic,” said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales and Marketing, for Copenhagen Airport.
Domestic traffic rose 10.3%, and the number of international passengers rose 8.3%, while the number of transfer passengers was down by 3.0%.
London was again the biggest destination with some 110,000 passengers, or 0.8% year-on-year growth. Oslo, Stockholm and Aalborg were in close competition for the next three places, as there were less than 10,000 passengers between number 2 and 4 on the list. The high growth rates for both Amsterdam and Paris were due to intensified competition and increased capacity on these destinations.
