Telenor recently acquired a nationwide license for mobile operation in Pakistan, and Tore Johnsen has accepted the top management position in the new Pakistani company. Telenor paid USD 291 mill for the license.

I do, however, regret that as a consequence, I will leave DiGi during such an exciting period in the history of the company. I know Morten Lundal personally and together with the highly skilled and competent employees of DiGi, I am sure they will ensure the successful road on which DiGi has embarked," Johnsen said.
Tore Johnsen (56) started his telecommunications career in Telenor in 1974 and has since held various managerial positions within the company including four years as Head of Telenor Broadcast. He has extensive experience in start-up ventures after joining the mobile business area in 1988 and has international experience from various mobile operators both in Europe and South East Asia. He began his career in DiGi as Senior Advisor in 2000 and was appointed to the COO position in February 2001. He has held the CEO position in DiGi since January 2004.
Morten Lundal (39) has served as an executive in Telenor for the last seven years. Lundal comes from a position as the senior vice president for strategy and business development in Telenor. He has previously headed Telenor's business areas both for Internet and Business Solutions. Morten Lundal has wide management consulting experience from both Norwegian and international markets prior to joining Telenor. |
